Class Info and Logistics
Q: What days and times are classes offered?
A: We offer classes Monday-Saturday. Weekday classes, both Gi and No-Gi classes start at 630p and Saturday (No-Gi only) begins at 11a. Please see our class schedule for current times.

Q: Do you offer different class levels?
A: Yes. We offer beginner foundations, mixed-level classes, advanced sessions and even women’s self defense.
Q: How often should I train each week?
A: Beginners see steady progress with 2 to 3 classes per week. Add an extra day when you feel ready and definitely consider mixing Gi and no-Gi training.
Q: Do you have open mat?
A: Not right now but perhaps in the future it will be something we consider. Ensuring safe learning for all is our primary concern.

Q: How do I sign up after my trial?
A: You can enroll at the front desk with Craig before or after class as well as peruse the catalog of Gi, rashguard and other clothing options you might want to consider.
Q: What membership options do you offer?
A: Month-to-month and annual plans. Ask for current rates during your free class.
Q: Do you offer discounts for students, first responders, or families?
A: Yes. Ask the front desk for current options.
Training and Curriculum
Q: Do I need experience to start training?
A: No experience is required! Our classes will cover jiu-jitsu fundamentals safely and clearly giving you a chance to learn and practice each new technique.
Q: What will I learn in my first month?
A: Breakfalls, technical stand-up, hip escapes, guard basics, mount and side control escapes, and introductory submissions like armbar and triangle.
Q: How does belt promotion work?
A: Promotions are based on consistency, skill development, and coach evaluation. Stripes mark progress between belts.
Q: How long does it take to earn a blue belt?
A: Timelines vary. Many students reach blue belt in 1 to 2 years with consistent training.
Q: Do you have a competition team?
A: Not yet. Ask coach Craig if you would like individual preparations for local or regional tournaments.
Kids and Specialized Programs
Q: What ages do you teach?
A: Currently we offer sessions designed for both teens and adults.

A: Yes. We teach age-appropriate skills in a structured environment that emphasizes safety, respect, and confidence.
Safety, Equipment, and Etiquette
Q: Is Jiu-Jitsu safe for beginners?
A: Yes. We focus on controlled drilling, proper warm-ups, and a culture that values tapping early and training smart.
Q: What gear do I need?
A: For gi classes, bring a clean gi and belt. For no-gi, wear a rash guard and athletic shorts.
Q: What should I bring to my first class?
A: Always bring a water bottle (hydration is important!), towels, sandals for off-mat movement and a positive attitude. Many grapplers also bring small items like toe nail clippers, medical tape and even liquid skin (great for small cuts and scrapes).
Q: Do I need to be in shape to start?
A: No! Jiu-Jitsu helps you get in shape. Start at your pace and build consistency and you’ll see the transformation.
Q: Hygiene and mat etiquette
A: Arrive clean, keep nails trimmed, remove jewelry, and sanitize gear after each session. Respect training partners and tap early.
