BJJ Video Series: Turtle Guard

Turtle Guard in Jiu-Jitsu is a defensive position where you're on your hands and knees protecting yourself from attacks while your opponent tries to control your back or flip you over. You use tight positioning, head placement, and strategic movement to prevent back takes and create scramble opportunities. It is used to defend against back control, set up granby rolls and other escapes, and create opportunities to return to guard or stand up. Being stuck in turtle while someone rides your back is about as comfortable as being a actual turtle trying to hide in a shell that's two sizes too small! This is the position nobody wants to end up in but everyone needs to know how to escape from, so we'll cover tons of defensive techniques and specific attacks for when you have your opponent “turtling up”.
