BJJ Video Series: Half Guard
Half Guard in Jiu-Jitsu is a versatile position where you control one of your opponent's legs between yours while lying on your side. You use underhooks, knee shields, and hip movement to create space and sweep opportunities. It is used to set up powerful sweeps, back takes, and submission attacks while serving as an excellent defensive position when you're in trouble. Half guard is like being the middle child of grappling positions - not quite as dominant as full guard, not as desperate as being fully mounted, but with its own sneaky ways of getting what it wants. Many grapplers underestimate half guard until they find themselves getting swept by someone who's made it their specialty - then suddenly that "inferior" position doesn't seem so harmless after all!
